How it’s calculated

Size = money at risk ÷ (stop distance × value of a 1.0 move), rounded down so you never risk more than you asked.

Forex: 1 lot is 100,000 units of the first currency. A pip is 0.0001, or 0.01 on yen pairs. Gold (XAUUSD): 1 lot is 100 oz. Some brokers use other sizes, so check yours.

When the second currency of the pair is your account currency, nothing needs converting. When the first one is, the value is divided by your entry price. Otherwise the rate you enter is used.

Futures use the exchange’s value per point: ES $50, MES $5, NQ $20, MNQ $2, CL $1,000 and GC $100, for example.

No live prices are used.
